2013 "Museum Show" – Capital City Quilt Show

This year's Capital City Quilt Show theme is "Road To Florida." The show will run at the Museum of Florida History from 9/11/13-11/3/13. The opening night reception will be on Tuesday 9/10/13. The Museum is part of the State Archives building.

Everyone who has a quilt hanging in the show is asked to volunteer two (2) hours for each quilt hanging in the show. Sign-up sheets for volunteers will be sent around the room at the next few QU meetings.
The Quilt Show Opening Night Reception will be held September 10, 2013 from 5:30-7:30
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes remarks by Museum Director, Dr. Jeana Brunson and. featured speaker, Dr. Charlotte Williams, author of Florida Quilts and long-time member of Quilters Unlimited of Tallahassee. Dr. Williams speaks on the history of quilting in Florida. Hors d’oeuvres are provided by the members of the Guild.
Family Saturday: September 14, 2013 from 11am – 12:30 pm
Museum Education Program Representative, Sarah Shaw, leads a hands-on fiber arts activity. In honor of the 32nd Annual Capital City Quilt Show, participants can create their own decorated quilt square. 2nd Saturday Family Programs at the Museum of Florida History offer hands-on history for every member of the family. The program, admission, and parking are free.

Jennifer Bailey speaks on Quilting as Fine Art and artistic creativity in quilting.
Jennifer Bailey, QU member, discusses the artistic importance of quilts and explores the development of quilting as a fine art. She has a deep appreciation for the discipline and has used her experience to help others explore the artistic creativity behind quilting. Parking and admission are free.
